LBC Studio and PA Overhaul

5/5/2021

Lebanon Baptist Church, like every other church, had to completely re-imagine their online ministry when COVID-19 struck.  After multiple weeks of pre-recording their service, LBC felt that they just wanted more interaction with their congregation, and decided to take on the project of actually building a streaming studio.  One where they could stream live, and if the pastor was up to the task, have Facebook open to where they could see comments in real time and be able to communicate (as much as possible that way) with anyone that had a prayer request or something that wanted to say.

Living Water Church Building AV

4/28/2021

Living Water Church has had a great ministry of feeding their congregation some breakfast on
Sunday mornings before the service. When COVID-19 struck last year that ministry was put to a halt, but the plans to expand that are and beef up other parts of their building to keep up with their ever-growing ministry were not. While making more room was the bulk of the plan, being able to hear and see what happened in the sanctuary and communicate with the building as a whole was also a priority. Here is where JCA Media came into the plan.

FBC Central City

4/21/2021

Central City was in need of a new PA. The requirements were that it be as few cabinets as
possible while giving great coverage, be a clean install that did not obstruct from the
architecture of the room, and obviously, be a vast improvement over the system they had.

Wyoming Baptist

4/14/2021

Wyoming Baptist reached out to JCA with the desire to improve not only their online ministry,
but revamp and simplify what they already had in house. They already had a nice console,
stagebox, and some other components needed to get their system up and running, but it
needed a good cleaning up and some organization.

Lancaster First Assembly of God

4/7/2021

Like many churches, COVID caused LFA to look further into their online ministry, and first on the list was upgrading their video system. LFA was just filming with one camera, but wanted to move to multiple angles, and if at all possible, add POV cameras on stage.

Cave City Christian

3/25/2021

At the start of COVID, Cave City Christian reached out to us like many churches, ready to look into the world of streaming! After discussing the options, they decided the PTZ route was the way to go, but that was only the start. They wanted to make sure that their audio would match the quality of their new video system, but it would need some work to do that. The existing console was not user friendly, the pa had a buzz in it, and the stage was lacking connections to mic all of their instruments to get them into the stream!

Pleasant Grove Baptist Church

8/15/2020

David Rogers, Music Minister at PGBC, contacted JCA mid 2018 asking about installing audio, lighting, projection, and broadcast at their new sanctuary that was about to begin construction. It didn’t take long after PBGC made a trip to a few installs that JCA had done in the Campbellsville area and they were confident JCA would be the company for them! Over the next year, JCA worked closely alongside the church’s building committee planning electric
diagrams, conduit plans and working out structure needs. In March of 2020, JCA finally walked on site to install the gear.

JCA is extremely proud to have worked with PGBC. This church wanted things done right,
something JCA couldn’t agree with more. To start it off, PGBC and JCA agreed that the PA
would be all Danley Sound Labs, one of JCA’s favorite brands. Not only is it a favorite because of audio quality, but because of their fanatic build quality, sleekness, and overwhelming support team. The main PA consisted of three SH69 mains, with bottom end supported by two TH118XL subs. Four SMLPM monitors on stage serve as wedges, with every floorbox also providing personal mixer outputs as well. One DNA 10K8 Pro powers the entire main PA, and two DNA 5K4 Pro amps power the monitors. To go along with the Danley, JCA installed an Allen&Heath SQ-7, AR2412 and AB168 stageboxes, ME-U hub, and 6 ME-1 personal mixers. Shure QLXD wireless with batteries and changers replaced the only wireless, and new Earthworks hanging choir mics where hung for the choir.

The lighting system needed to be simple, flexible, and budget friendly. Words that you usually
don’t see in the same sentence, yet JCA accomplished it! A Chroma-Q JANDS MV Console with the JANDS software serve as control for the system, with three Doug Fleenor preset stations placed at the main entryways for control of the system when the light console isn’t on. Eight Chauvet Professional Ovation F-915FC fresnels provide full color front wash, two Chauvet Professional Rogue R2X Spots serve as spots or effects, four Chauvet Professional Colordash Batten Quad 12 battens help brighten the choir loft, Chauvet Epix Flex strip illuminates the cross and Doug Fleener adapters allow for the low voltage lighting of the houselights to be control via DMX.

The projection system consisted of two Hitachi LP-WU6700 laser projections, DA-Lite perm wall screens, paired with an 82” Samsung confidence display. Working alongside the projection system is the broadcast system. The ATEM 1M/E broadcast switcher allows PGBC to switch between two PTZ cameras (as well as two more in the future) and their projection feed. An auxiliary output on the system feeds the projection, and another feeds the lobby allowing them to put whichever input on whichever output: ultimate flexibility!

Ransdell Chapel Sub Addition

7/17/2020

Ransdell Chapel on the campus of Campbellsville University is the center of all concert type events held on campus.  With that, the need for more low end has grown with today’s type of worship and popular christian artists.  The Adamson Metrix PA installed by JCA years ago still has plenty of headroom as far as highs go, but the thump needed a little help.  To assist, JCA installed two Danley Sound Labs DBH218 subs, a Danley DNA 20K4 to power them (while allowing room to grow), and a Danley SC48 processor to retune the whole system.  The result, enough low end to rattle the can lights from the ceiling.  Mission.  Accomplished.

2 Danley DBH218 Subs
Danley DNA 20K4 Pro Amp

Grapevine Baptist

7/13/2020

JCA Media is a ministry.  We were established to be a company that helps churches reach their goals by providing the RIGHT audio visual technology and at a price that fits their budget.  When Grapevine Baptist called and told us or their situation, we were truly heartbroken.  To keep it short, they had a new audio system and video system installed less than two years ago, and drew the short end of the stick.  JCA was called in to help, and that’s exactly what we did!  The previous PA, while a great product, was not the right fit for the room so it was all removed and replaced with a simple and powerful audio system that fit the room and filled every corner.  A Martin CDD12 main covered the main floor, while 2 Martin CDD8’s filled the outer edges not caught by the main.  Four tiny Martin CDD5 fills were hung to cover to small alcoves in the rear of the sanctuary, and to finish it off, we built a bunker for a Danley THMini15 sub right under the middle of the stage, tucked it in, and surrounded it in insulation to create a nice, warm, punch.  ALL of this powered by one Powersoft Ottocanali 8K4.  The result was astonishing.  Where the audio before skirted over the audiences head, every seat in the house now was beautifully covered, which punch to spare…but we didn’t stop there!  One look under the stage and in the crawlspaces were easy evidence that no old wire had ever been removed, and the result was a spaghetti mess of old wire that was no longer being used.  We believe in a job done right, so JCA removed ALL of the old wire and installed our new lines, secured beautifully all the way to the new rack location.  To finish out the system and give the praise team and AV techs the most simple and efficient system possible, JCA changed out the Aviom system, Yamaha TF5 system, and replaced it with a gorgeous Allen&Heath SQ-7 and ME personal mixing system.

The visual system got an upgrade as well!  A new Blackmagic ATEM 1M/E switcher was installed.  And Blackmagic Hyperdeck mini gave the ability to record, a web presenter the ability to stream, and a Decklink Duo card gave 4 individual feeds from the new Apple iMac outfitted with Propresenter 7.  The front two displays were changed to 85” Samsung Displays, the rear confidence display to a 75”, and four new 43” displays were hung in the rear for the alcoves!  And because we don’t believe in waste, the previous 65” confidence display was rehung out front for an announcement screen that could now be fed from ProPresenter!  By the time we were done, they were ready for anything!

First Christian Church dLive

7/6/2020

If there was ever a church that used all the possible processing power in an Allen&Heath T112 iLive console, it was FCC.  When the current sanctuary was built, JCA Media installed the new (at the time) Allen&Heath iLive T112 and IDR48 mixrack.  Since its installation, the channel count and required outputs needed have gown tremendously, and the iLive has began to show its age. In a new era where broadcast mixes are just as important as house mixes, FCC was looking to revamp their online audio and to do that channels needed to be shared from the iLive.  Because of its limited architecture and not dated OS, the time to upgrade was now.  To take it’s place, JCA Media installed a new dLive S5000 console, DM64 Stagerack to handle all inputs from stage, and a DX168 and DX012 to handle all wireless and IEM’s at FOH.  For broadcast, an SQ-7 took the job, and is connected to the dLive via Dante to share channels for both mixes, as well as provide the ability to record and perform virtual soundcheck.  Now, the possibilities are endless.

Gear List:
Allen&Heath dLive S5000 Surface
Allen&Heath dLive DM64 Stagerack
Allen&Heath DX168 Expander
Allen&Heath DX012 Expander
Allen&Heath SQ-7
Dante Cards for both dLive and SQ-7
