David Rogers, Music Minister at PGBC, contacted JCA mid 2018 asking about installing audio, lighting, projection, and broadcast at their new sanctuary that was about to begin construction. It didn’t take long after PBGC made a trip to a few installs that JCA had done in the Campbellsville area and they were confident JCA would be the company for them! Over the next year, JCA worked closely alongside the church’s building committee planning electric
diagrams, conduit plans and working out structure needs. In March of 2020, JCA finally walked on site to install the gear. JCA is extremely proud to have worked with PGBC. This church wanted things done right, something JCA couldn’t agree with more. To start it off, PGBC and JCA agreed that the PA would be all Danley Sound Labs, one of JCA’s favorite brands. Not only is it a favorite because of audio quality, but because of their fanatic build quality, sleekness, and overwhelming support team. The main PA consisted of three SH69 mains, with bottom end supported by two TH118XL subs. Four SMLPM monitors on stage serve as wedges, with every floorbox also providing personal mixer outputs as well. One DNA 10K8 Pro powers the entire main PA, and two DNA 5K4 Pro amps power the monitors. To go along with the Danley, JCA installed an Allen&Heath SQ-7, AR2412 and AB168 stageboxes, ME-U hub, and 6 ME-1 personal mixers. Shure QLXD wireless with batteries and changers replaced the only wireless, and new Earthworks hanging choir mics where hung for the choir. The lighting system needed to be simple, flexible, and budget friendly. Words that you usually don’t see in the same sentence, yet JCA accomplished it! A Chroma-Q JANDS MV Console with the JANDS software serve as control for the system, with three Doug Fleenor preset stations placed at the main entryways for control of the system when the light console isn’t on. Eight Chauvet Professional Ovation F-915FC fresnels provide full color front wash, two Chauvet Professional Rogue R2X Spots serve as spots or effects, four Chauvet Professional Colordash Batten Quad 12 battens help brighten the choir loft, Chauvet Epix Flex strip illuminates the cross and Doug Fleener adapters allow for the low voltage lighting of the houselights to be control via DMX. The projection system consisted of two Hitachi LP-WU6700 laser projections, DA-Lite perm wall screens, paired with an 82” Samsung confidence display. Working alongside the projection system is the broadcast system. The ATEM 1M/E broadcast switcher allows PGBC to switch between two PTZ cameras (as well as two more in the future) and their projection feed. An auxiliary output on the system feeds the projection, and another feeds the lobby allowing them to put whichever input on whichever output: ultimate flexibility!
